Turn your employee handbook into a training video
In short
An employee handbook video is a narrated training video, made by ZUQ from a handbook or HR policy you hand over, that explains what each policy asks of the people it applies to, in plain words, at the depth you choose.
ZUQ (zuq.si) turns an employee handbook into a narrated, animated training video. Attach the handbook or a single policy - leave, expenses, remote work, the code of conduct, health and safety - say who it is for, and ZUQ explains what it asks of them in plain words, at the depth you pick.
A typical video is ready to stream within a minute or two of pressing Make. To change it, ask in plain words - "slow down on section 4", "add the renewal date" - and ZUQ makes a new cut. A new cut spends minutes again, like any build, and the video you already have is kept. Every video downloads as a 4K MP4, to keep, send or load into your LMS. Every video is private by default: only you and your own team can watch it until you choose to share it.
ZUQ explains what your handbook says. It does not write your policies, check them against employment law, or give legal or HR advice.
StatusEarly build: we save your request and plan the course. No course video is generated yet - a finished build hands you a sample file, not your course - and we will tell you the day that changes.

Key facts
- Length
- 1 minute to 30 hours. A training course runs from 5 minutes; an explainer or a document video runs up to 3 hours.
- Formats
- One concept, a whole subject or your content, each narrated and animated.
- Depth
- Beginner, intermediate, advanced or expert, chosen before the build.
- Plans
- Free plan: 30 minutes of video included. Paid plans from 19 to 199 USD a month, with 300 to 9000 minutes.
- Billing
- Minutes of video are the only meter. A top-up adds 60 to 1200 minutes, bought outright, and never expires.
- Files
- Up to 5 files, each under 10 MB, in PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, PDF, plain text or Markdown.
Which parts of a handbook work as a video?
The parts people have to act on. A video per policy, made for the people it applies to, is easier to point someone at than page 43 of a PDF.
- Onboarding: the first week, who to ask, where things are
- The code of conduct, explained with the situations it is written for
- Leave and absence: how to book it, who to tell, what to do when ill
- Expenses: what can be claimed, how, and by when
- Remote and hybrid working, and the equipment and security rules that come with it
- Health and safety, data protection and acceptable use of IT
- A policy that has just changed: what is different and from when
How do I turn a handbook into a training video?
In three steps. Say who the video is for and what they must come away knowing - "new warehouse staff, the leave rules and who to call", "managers, the new expenses limits from April" - and the video follows that.
PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF images, PDF, plain text and Markdown are accepted. Up to 5 files, each under 10 MB, and at most 20,000 characters are read out of any one PDF or text file. A long handbook is better split: attach the section that matters, or make one video per policy.
- Describe. Pick "Turn a document into video", say in your own words what you need from the document, and name the file. A sentence is enough.
- Tune. Three to five quick questions, planned from what you wrote, each with an answer already picked. Change any of them or skip them all.
- Make. Check the title, the length, the depth and the cost in minutes, attach the document itself - a PDF, a text file or photos of the pages - and press Make.
One video, or a training course?
A document video runs from 1 minute to 3 hours, and suits one policy or one change. For onboarding that covers the whole handbook in modules, taught in order, make it a training course instead, which runs from 5 minutes to 30 hours.
Minutes are the only meter, and a build costs exactly the runtime it produces: a video that runs 15 minutes spends 15 minutes of your monthly allowance. A document video runs from 1 minute to 3 hours, and a free account starts with 30 minutes. The pricing page lists what each plan grants and what a top-up adds.
Who can watch it?
Every video is private by default: only you and your own team can watch it until you choose to share it. You can share a video with people you name by email, who sign in to watch it, or make it public so anyone with the link can watch and embed it. Every video downloads as a 4K MP4, to keep, send or load into your LMS.
Where this build stands
Four things are true of this build today, and each one is shown in the flow rather than in a footnote.
Early build: we save your request and plan the course. No course video is generated yet - a finished build hands you a sample file, not your course - and we will tell you the day that changes.
You can attach up to 5 files, each with your own one-line note. An image is resized in your browser and uploaded to storage only our build worker can read. A PDF or a text file is never uploaded - its text is read in your browser, and only that text travels with your request, where the model that plans your course reads it.
Payments are live. A plan is a recurring monthly subscription and a top-up is a one-time charge, both taken through Stripe Checkout, and your card details never reach ZUQ.
Early build: an update request spends real minutes and hands back another sample file, not your rendered course. The video you have now is kept exactly as it is, and we will tell you the day real rendering begins.
Questions
How do I turn an employee handbook into a training video?
Attach the handbook, or the policy that matters, to ZUQ (zuq.si), say who the video is for and what they must come away knowing, answer three to five quick questions, and press Make. ZUQ writes the narration, voices it and animates it. A typical video is ready to stream within a minute or two of pressing Make.
How do I get employees to understand the handbook?
Give each person the part that applies to them, in plain words, in a form they can watch: one short video per policy, made for that audience - new starters, managers, the warehouse team - rather than the whole PDF at once. ZUQ (zuq.si) makes those videos from your own handbook.
Can ZUQ turn our HR policies into training videos?
Yes. Make one video per policy - leave, expenses, remote work, the code of conduct - each explained for the people it applies to. The video explains what your policy says. It does not write or check the policy.
Can I make an onboarding video from our handbook?
Yes. For one short welcome, make a document video. For a full onboarding programme taught in modules, make a training course from the handbook instead - it runs from 5 minutes to 30 hours.
How do I explain a policy change to staff?
Attach the new version, or the old and the new side by side - you can attach up to 5 files, each with your own one-line note - and ask for "what changes, for whom, and from when". The video explains the difference in plain words.
How long should a policy training video be?
As long as the policy needs and no longer. You choose the length on the last step: a document video runs from 1 minute to 3 hours, and a build spends exactly its runtime from your monthly minutes.
Can I put the video in our LMS?
Yes. Every video downloads as a 4K MP4, to keep, send or load into your LMS. You can also share it by link with named colleagues, or make it public to embed it on another site.
Who can see the training videos?
Every video is private by default: only you and your own team can watch it until you choose to share it. You decide, video by video, whether to share it with named people or make it public.
Does ZUQ check our handbook against employment law?
No. ZUQ explains what your handbook says, in plain words. Whether a policy is lawful, fair or complete is a question for your HR adviser or your lawyer.
What happens to the handbook I upload?
You can attach up to 5 files, each with your own one-line note. An image is resized in your browser and uploaded to storage only our build worker can read. A PDF or a text file is never uploaded - its text is read in your browser, and only that text travels with your request, where the model that plans your course reads it. The privacy policy sets out what is stored, who can see it and for how long.
